The deep, midnight blue of the dial is the perfect backdrop for the seconds hand that moves in the perfect glide motion that is Spring Drive’s unique signature. It has an almost haunting beauty, like the sky on a moonlit night and the continuous, silent and unhurried progress of the hand seems to add a new and intimate dimension to the relationship of time and nature. 44GS modern design model powered by Spring Drive
Powered by Grand Seiko’s unique Spring Drive calibre, this model features 44GS Contemporary Design, a contemporary take on the design of the 44GS, which was launched in 1967 and formed the cornerstone of the Grand Seiko design philosophy, Grand Seiko Style.
The dial of midnight blue as close to black as possible, coupled with the elegantly radiant case achieved through Zaratsu polishing, delivers both refined taste and high visibility at the same time.
The movement of the second hand over the dial further highlights Grand Seiko’s original glide motion, reflecting the natural and continuous flow of time itself. It has a 72-hour (3-day) power reserve, and a power reserve indicator on the bottom left of the dial.

The 44GS design unites the past and the future.
This is a modern re-interpretation of the celebrated 44GS from 1967, the watch that defined the character of Grand Seiko design. It is brought right up to date with a Spring Drive movement and with an advanced case polishing technique called Zaratsu that makes possible the distortion-free mirror finish, even on surfaces that are delicately curved. As a result, the watch has the distinctive sparkle of quality that defines Grand Seiko. This is Grand Seiko at its finest; respectful of tradition but ever willing to find ways to do things better.
